Eat Red Onions!
WHY?
Because this tear-inducing vegetable is extremely high in antioxidants, those little things that prevent damage to the cells in your body by mopping up harmful disease-causing free radicals.
HOW?
- Most of the antioxidants are in the outer layers, so don’t do what I used to always do and peel off the outer layers! Retain as much of the onion as possible when removing the dry outermost layer.
- Add raw red onions to salads, salsa, guacamole, sandwiches, wraps, burgers
- Use them to season your soups, stews, curries, stir frys, etc
- Red onions are especially delicious roasted with other vegetables
