Don’t be fooled by the name! Buckwheat has nothing to do with wheat! It’s not even technically a grain, it’s a seed from a plant that is related to rhubarb! These nutty-tasting pyramid-shaped “groats” are full of fibre (for healthy bowels), protein (to help your body repair) and lots of vitamins and minerals, including those all-important energy-boosting B-vitamins!
The groats can be used instead of oats to make porridge
Instead of rice as an accompaniment to dishes like curry, etc
Add cooked groats to soups, stews, or salads
Use buckwheat flour in baking, or to make pancakes
Let me know how you like your buckwheat!
